Dr. Jason A. Boone

Dr. Jason Boone is the Superintendent of Schools, and former Assistant Superintendent, of the Southmoreland School District. In the 2022-2023 school year, he also served as the Substitute Superintendent of the district.  Dr. Boone earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics at Saint Vincent College, where he minored in Secondary Education and Computer Science.  Early in his career, he continued his life-long learning at Saint Vincent College as he obtained his Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in School Administration. 

Over the course of his twenty year career in public education, Dr. Boone has served the students and communities of Burrell, Greater Latrobe, and Belle Vernon Area School Districts as a MS math teacher, HS Assistant Principal, HS Principal and District LEA.  Additionally, Dr. Boone has served as a Curriculum Supervisor at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, where he acted as a liaison between the local school districts and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  In this role, he supported districts in various stages of PDE Designated School Improvement efforts, in addition to providing professional development to classroom teachers, building administrators, and central office administrators throughout the region. 

Throughout his many roles within Westmoreland County, Dr. Boone’s work has centered on student performance through targeted data analysis at the student, building, district, and county levels. In 2016, Dr. Boone earned his Doctorate of Education in School Leadership at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to his work in the Southmoreland School District, Dr. Boone often presents at various state and regional conferences relating to school leadership and has served as a consultant for the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Comprehensive School Improvement and Additional Targeted School Improvement programs.

We have made significant investments in technology and infrastructure to ensure that our students have access to the latest educational tools and resources. We also offer a wide range of extracurricular activities and programs to provide our students with a well-rounded education.

    We believe that education is a collaborative effort between the school, the home, and the community. We encourage parents and community members to get involved in our schools and to support our students in their educational endeavors.
